# Inspiration scan 2026-10-20: synthesis

## 1. What was scanned

- **Sources:** the 40 named in the r/webdesign thread: 30 galleries and lists, one developer's site and 27 studios in nine groups of three. Six, found later in the archived comments, ran second.
- **Picks:** 160 judged, from 38 sources (cursor.com/compile was picked by two sources; the duplicate folder was merged into [`cursor-compile`](picks/cursor-compile/)).
- **Blocked:** Are.na (its API refuses automated access; the scout did not work around it) and Webjourney (a defunct AI site builder, not a gallery).
- **Partial:** Httpster and Sections.wtf (dormant since 2025), Mobbin (public pages only), Portfoliex (now a 404; read via the Wayback Machine) and the tha, ED. and Pill & Pillow group (one pick in the window).
- **Dormant or thin:** Cofolios (since June 2025), Hoverstates (since July), DesignFuel (mostly 2023), Websitevice and Repaint (mainstream sites), Figr and Design Spells (app UI), Toools' vibe-coding galleries, Olivier Larose's demos, and 12 of the 27 studios (no recent live web work).
- **Method:** one scout and one juror per source, renders on fsit2, scores from the pixels (7 is award shortlist); see [SCAN.md](SCAN.md).

## 2. Ten patterns of the 2026 wave

The FWA (two more) relaunches on 3 November 2026; re-scan then.
- **Quarterly:** Burocratik (Büro), Find Design Agency, Viewport UI, Hoverstates, Siteinspire, Capinspo.
