# Inspiration scan — 2026-10-20

The owner's ask (2026-10-20), in his words: "send some sub-agents to scan all the sites mentioned in here for inspiration … they should look at ones that stand out but more recent ones too because they're ai built and agentically designed more than likely", pointing at the r/webdesign thread "These are my favorite web design inspiration websites, what are yours?" (February 2026, 117 upvotes, 49 comments).

## What was read
- The full thread: 50 comments (38 top-level, 12 nested replies, 7 removed), fetched from two public Reddit archives (Arctic Shift and PullPush; copies current to 2026-08-25) after every live lane refused: the public JSON endpoint and the Bright Data unlocker return 403 or refuse reddit.com, the Bright Data Reddit datasets returned the post and only 16 of the 38 top-level comments, and a headed browser on fsit2 met a CAPTCHA, which was left unsolved. Live counts (49 comments, 117 upvotes) come from the Bright Data post snapshot.
- The nested replies name no sites; the top-level comments the datasets had missed add six galleries (Find Design Agency, Portfoliex, Capinspo, Muzli, Lapa Ninja, CSS Design Awards), scanned in a second run.
- Sources extracted: 30 galleries and lists, one individual site, 27 studios (grouped three per thread) → `sources.json`. Left out: Dribbble, Behance, Instagram and Pinterest (shot galleries, not websites), Temlis (templates), and two self-promoted tools (dragdropship.com, refframe.com).

## How the scan works
- One thread per source reads its recent entries (WebFetch, then `url-ingest` via Firecrawl or the Bright Data unlocker, then a rendered listing page when a gallery is client-side only), picks up to six recent standouts (June 2026 onwards where dates exist), renders each on fsit2 with `design/tools/render-remote.sh`, looks at the renders, and writes `picks/<slug>/pick.json`.
- A juror thread per source scores every pick from the pixels (wow, novelty, ai-era, fit; hard grading, 7 = award shortlist) into `picks/<slug>/judge.json`.
- A synthesis thread writes `README.md`; `design/tools/scan_gallery.py` builds `index.html` for the laptop and the phone.
- Already captured in the overnight round (`concepts/research/refs/`) is skipped.

The picks are candidates for the owner's inspiration table, not decisions: he marks what he likes in `design/inspiration/INSPIRATION.md`.
