# v3 · shantell sans

The same engine and sheet as v2, with Shantell Sans at weight 600: a rounder, more drawn marker hand, to judge the two fonts side by side.

## What it does

- Identical mechanics to v2 (`marker.js` writes the rasterised font stroke by stroke; a second line follows in the same hand; `?text=` and `?line2=` work the same way).
- Shantell Sans is a variable font with an informality axis; the canvas text path cannot set that axis, so this is the default (more formal) cut at weight 600.

## Why

Shantell Sans keeps a steadier baseline and rounder bowls than Kalam, closer to a designed wordmark than to a sketch. Seeing both answers whether the opening wants a hand or a typeface.

## What it cannot do yet

- Same limits as v2: shapes, not pen movements; one line at a time. The informality axis would need the font rendered through the DOM rather than the canvas text API.
